Secret Project Reveal

Hello hello! Its time to reveal the project I’ve been working on! I’m so glad its finished and I don’t have to keep it a secret anymore haha. The project was two paintings for my sister and brother-in-law. They are about to celebrate their first wedding anniversary and they also just recently bought their first house. So to celebrate those two huge occasions I recreated her bridal bouquet in watercolor and also painted a house portrait.

The house portrait started with a photo that I imported to Procreate on my iPad. From there I sketched a few versions playing with the composition and the framing. After that I printed my digital sketch and traced it onto the watercolor paper with my light pad. Then the painting began! Once the paint had fully dried I added the ink details and made any finishing touches and tweaks.

The final result!

The bouquet was much more difficult for me as it was a way more complicated subject. I started with a few images of her bouquet and sketched and sketched and sketched. After I was happy with a pencil and paper sketch I took a photo of that sketch and brought it into Procreate to refine it some more and add more details. After that was done I printed it out and traced it onto the watercolor paper this time in ink first. Then once the ink was totally dry I started adding the watercolor. A few layers of watercolor later I added a few more ink details and then it was done!

The final result!

I’m pretty happy with how they both turned out but mostly because I learned so much about my process during this project. It didn’t hurt that they they seemed happy with the results lol. And now its time to get them framed and put in their new home! Congrats and happy anniversary to Marian & Ronnie 😁

I’ll be back in a few weeks for a full August studio recap. Thank you so much for stopping by and I hope you have a wonderful rest of August!
